Missionary Support

Our very own Baylee Mitchell heard God’s call at the age of 8 and now, at 19 years old, she is serving full-time in Thailand.

“I am 19 years old. I feel called to Mae Sai, which is the most northern part of Thailand that borders Burma, modern-day Myanmar. I am partnering with a ministry called Victory International and will be teaching English at their new English center and helping to pioneer the children’s program for their church. I will also be helping in their vision as they pioneer a church for the Burmese. I will be there for the next 5 years possibly more. My goal is to raise $1000 monthly but any one-time donations are welcomed. My other major needs would be a prayer for wisdom as I prepare and for perseverance as I learn to speak Thai fluently.”

Update from Baylee

สวัสดีจากประเทศไทย(greetings from Thailand),

Hello to all my amazing friends and family, I’m back with another monthly update!

I want to begin by saying thank you. I am continually overwhelmed by the prayers, generosity, encouragement, and love you all pour into my life. Your support reaches me here in Thailand in ways I can’t even fully describe, and I feel so deeply cared for and cherished by such a faithful community. It truly reminds me that I am not walking this journey alone, and I never want to take that for granted. Thank you for walking with me so faithfully through every season.
This month has been filled with God given opportunities and constant blessings and open doors. What I originally thought this season at Victory would look like has completely shifted. God has completely changed the course of what I expected, and all throughout February, leading into March 1st,I have seen His faithfulness in unexpected ways. He has been reminding me that His plans are always better than my own, even when they look different than what I imagined.
One of the biggest opportunities that has come up this month is the chance to join Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Chiang Mai as staff. This would be a two-year staff commitment, and after much prayer, I have officially applied and am now waiting to see what will come of it. I am trusting God with the outcome and asking for His clear direction in whether this is the next step He is calling me into. It truly feels like a door He has opened, and I want to walk through it with wisdom, discernment, and full dependence on Him.
If this path continues forward, it would also mean a move to Chiang Mai. That comes with a lot of practical steps, including looking for a house and figuring out what life would look like there. I also need clarity and wisdom regarding my dogs and how everything will work out with them during this transition. There are a lot of unknowns, and while I am incredibly excited about what God may be doing, I am also very nervous. This season feels like a big step of faith. I am learning to hold both excitement and uncertainty at the same time while trusting that God will lead the way in every situation, just like He always has.
Another huge blessing this month has been getting involved with Happy Homes. For those of you who don’t know, Happy Homes is a children’s home with multiple homes across Thailand, including a baby home. I had the opportunity to visit, meet the kids, meet the staff, and spend time playing with the children. It was such a sweet and special experience, and it really touched my heart. I am hoping to go back and continue spending time with the kids — simply playing with them, hanging out with them, and loving them well.
College has also been going really well. I’ve finally gotten into a good groove with my classes. I’m almost finished with my first class and have already started my second one. It has been a bit of a learning curve because I accidentally chose an eight-week class, so it has been a lot of work in a short amount of time — but it has been so rewarding. I’ve also been learning Thai due to my visa requirements, although my Thai teacher rarely shows up to class, so I’ve been doing a lot of self-study instead. Even with that, I’ve been getting better and braver. I’ve been able to use my Thai out in the streets, at markets, and in public places, and I’ve even been able to have small conversations with my local friends. It has been really encouraging to see that progress.
In the midst of all these changes and possibilities, I am continuing to grow in my relationship with the Lord and in my daily life here in Thailand. This season feels like preparation and stretching — learning to trust God not just with the calling, but with the details too. I am believing that He is forming something deeper in me through this process, not just opening doors around me.
As for my fur children, Ember and Remmy have been doing amazing, though I wish they would stop bringing me lizards and spiders as gifts. They are so proud of themselves and just want me to share in their catch but I think it’s gross. All jokes aside, they bring so much joy into my life, and I am praying for wisdom in how to care for them well as I step into whatever comes next.
Prayer Requests
• Pray for discernment and wisdom as I seek God’s will for the next season and wait to hear back about YWAM Chiang Mai staff.
• Pray for clarity about housing in Chiang Mai and what the next steps should be.
• Pray for wisdom regarding my dogs and how everything will work out for them in this transition.
• Pray for peace, courage, and trust as I walk forward into the unknown.
• Pray that I would find joy in this season and embrace the experiences God gives me, growing both as a person and deeper in love with Christ.
• Pray for the conflict in Myanmar and for all the families at my church
• Pray for the English center at Victory because they are also going through a major transition
Thank you again for walking with me through every season, every transition, and every unknown. Your prayers, encouragement, and love mean more than I could ever fully express. I am so grateful for each of you and for the way God continues to use you in my life.God bless you!
With so much love and gratitude,
Baylee
